Is anyone listening?
Spike Lee lets loose on gentrification in New York City. Read the transcript and/or listen to the audio at the end of the article.
What do you think?
Is it progress, and if so, at what cost?
Or it is, as Spike implies, another example of the "Christopher Columbus Syndrome," with folks "discovering," and claiming as theirs, what's always been there.

Lackluster views from us NY (black) folk - loving a good debate and his attitude, a lot us can't ignore (1) that (in the oh so great words of a NY Mag commenter) there "...ain't no dumming on the Upper East Side [in Manhattan], huh? Spike!" (LOL) where he has lived for many years in one of the most post parts and (2) over 10 years ago his townhouse was THE FIRST $1million dollar sale in Fort Greene. According to his own argument: wouldn't he a culprit as well? In sum, as a good friend wrote to me: "sit down, Spike, what are you so mad about, you ain't even there!"
